JoCori Jones, age-17 was killed in a drive-by shooting early Sunday (October-31-21)morning on East19th Street, near Henry L. Brown Kooker Park.
The shooting occurred at 2 a.m. when a silver sedan pulled up and someone started shooting at a group of people, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. One Jacori was killed and a teenage girl was injured. She is expected to be OK. 
People who knew him and by all accounts, Jones was a good kid who people described as sweet and respectful.

Patrick "P.J." Wesley, Jr. Shot and Killed

On Tuesday, October 5th, Patrick Wesley, Jr. was shot and killed while he sat inside a friends vehicle at 1250 Brookwood Forest Blvd.  Another man was also shot.

Kenaz Mobley Shot and killed on Moncrief Road

18 Year Old Shot and Killed
September 30, 2021

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an 18-year-old man whose body, police said, was found in the parking lot of an Arlington apartment complex Wednesday night.

According to Sgt. Halyard, with the Sheriff’s Office, police were called to the scene on Arlington Expressway shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept.29th. He said the man, who was not identified, was shot multiple times. 

He said police were canvassing the area for witnesses and looking for any surveillance cameras that might have captured something.

“We have not identified the suspect at this time, and we’re soliciting the community’s help in any information that would help lead us to an arrest,” he said.

Halyard said the shooting “appears to be a targeted incident.”

Woman Shot and Killed on Myra Street in Riverside

***Enhanced Reward Up To $15,000***

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated a shooting in the 2700 block of Myra Street Tuesday, August 3rd,2021 in the early morning.

Investigators continue to work the murder that occurred on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, in the 2700 block of Myra Street.  The adult female victim appears to have surprised the suspect as he was burglarizing a vehicle and she was subsequently shot as the suspect fled on foot.  The victim was transported to a local medical facility but subsequently died from her injuries.

Following the murder, the pictured subject was seen running in the 2600 block of Rosselle Street and was subsequently picked up in the same area by an unknown individual driving the pictured vehicle - a newer model Ford Edge.  We are seeking information on the pictured subject and vehicle, as well as the unknown driver.  Investigators believe they may hold information in reference to the recent murder. 

 

During a follow-up, it has been learned that the pictured individual may hold information in reference to this investigation.  He is not considered a suspect in the murder, however, we are attempting to identify him in an effort to speak to him about the case.  It is believed that this individual frequents the Riverside area.

 

 

An enhanced reward is being offered for information in this murder.  Along with a $4,000 reward from First Coast Crime Stoppers, the F.O.P. Foundation is also offering an additional $5,000, and the U.S. Coastguard investigative Service gave $6,000 to enhance the reward even more.

Ramiro Young Killed

JSO reported 17-year-old  Ramiek Young was a victim of a fatal shooting Friday, May 27th, 2021afternoon on West 15th Street in Jacksonville. Ramiek came in town from Georgia to surprise his sister for graduation.  Police said they found him shot multiple times on a sidewalk in Durkeeville around 2:30 p.m. Friday. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening at first but around 5 p.m. his condition worsened and he died at a hospital.

Vincent Samuels Murdered on East 25th Street

The parents of a Jacksonville man who was gunned down Tuesday night say their son was the victim of a targeted attack and they’re pleading with the community to come forward with any information they might have that could help police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said police were called to East 25th Street on Tuesday, May 18th, night in reference to a shooting. They said a man was taken to a hospital where he died and that two other people in a white vehicle fled the scene.

Family identified the man who died as Vincent Samuels, 29. His mother, Terry Gartrell, said her son was in a car with three other people and that Samuels was the only one shot.

″My son told me he was in fear for his life. A couple of threats had been made,” Gartrell said.

With no one in custody, his parents, siblings and extended family are pleading with the public, to come forward with any information that they might have that could help lead police to an arrest.

Azimuth Bendour Homicide

On Friday, October 9, 2020, patrol officers were notified of a battery that occurred around 2:45am in the area of 1200 University Boulevard North. The victim, Aziz Bendour (White/Male, 55), sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

 

Mr. Bendour died on Thursday, January 7, 2021 as a result of the injuries he sustained in October 2020.

 

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is currently investigating this incident.

Man Shot and Killed in Brentwood Neighborhood
March 18, 2021

On Wednesday, March 17th, Police in Jacksonville are investigating a shooting with no witnesses and no suspects in a Brentwood neighborhood.

A spokesperson for Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they arrived at a home on W. 26th and Silver Street after receiving notification of 6 shots fired via ShotSpotter detection.

When responders arrived, they found a vehicle had collided with a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home. The driver, a man in his 30-40s was found dead.

Police said he had one gunshot wound to the upper torso. Neighbors told police they didn’t see anything, according to JSO, but there may be surveillance cameras in the area.

The spokesperson said investigators aren’t sure if someone shot the man as they were passing in another vehicle or if the shooter was on foot.
