12/31/2006 - Announcement

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Wyllie B. Hodges, Executive Director of First Coast Crime Stoppers, we would like to thank the citizens of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia for their interest and participation in the Crime Stoppers program. We now have received over 16,130 calls to our Toll Free number since our inception in July 2003. Union and Bradford counties have joined our Crime Stoppers family. We welcome all residents of these counties. Crime Stoppers also appreciates the efforts of all Law Enforcement Officers involved in running out the various leads and arrests generated by the Tip Line. First Coast Crime Stoppers, Jacksonville Sheriff`s Office along with Nassau County Sheriff`s Office, Clay County Sheriff`s Office and Baker County Sheriff`s Office have joined together to create a deck of cards that feature information about local cold cases. These cards are distributed to the inmates in jail. First Coast Crime Stoppers hopes the cards start conversations over poker and solve cold cases that remain unsolved. The Crime Stopper program is a community based program bringing together the citizens, the media and Law Enforcement.

3/1/2008 - Reward Increased to $11,000 in Longhorn`s Murder Case
Now more than one year after Cordell Foreman was killed at the Longhorn Steakhouse the Jacksonville Beach Police investigation has gone cold.
"The main reason is it did happen inside of a closed business so opportunities of passersby, we don`t have it unless someone coming by on the outside saw something suspicious," says Detective Mark Evans.
The detective on the case for the last year says it has been frustrating.
There was little to go on even in all the surveillance video from the shopping plaza around the restaurant.
"All the ATMs, all the different businesses, they all have video surveillance and we went business to business collecting those and going through hours of those hoping for a clue."
But Saturday Wyllie Hodges, executive director of First Coast Crime Stoppers, announced there is new money to heat up this cooling case.
The owners of the Longhorn Restaurant added $10,000 on top of $1,000 from Crime Stoppers as a reward for information.
"People are going to talk more and they`re going to think more about it if you up the ante, and that`s what we`re hoping to accomplish here today," says Hodges.
The murder happened either late at night January 21, 2007 or early in the morning on the 22nd.
The $11,000 reward will go to anyone who gives information that leads to any arrests in the case.
